We Are Kearsney Manor

Erica and Paul Kalil, the owners and founders of Kearsney Manor

Our Story

After purchasing Kearsney Manor in 2004, Erica and Paul Kalil saw the potential in this unique property and set about the enormous task of restoring the Manor to its former glory. With only a small budget to work with, they moved onto the property with their 4 young children to tackle one room at a time. Erica and Paul had a vision and they turned that vision into a reality. This project has been a labour of love for the past 20 years and they continue to strive for it to reach its greatest potential.

Our History

Kearsney Manor is deeply rooted in history and dates back to 1870 where it was built by the great Sir Liege Hulett.

It's had many purposes since: first a coffee farm, then a tea plantation to finally becoming a sugar cane estate where the empire of Hulett sugar began.

Sir Liege Hulett then moved to Durban and the Manor had the great privilege of becoming the original, prestigious Kearsney College, now located in Botha's Hill.

After the school was relocated, Kearsney Manor became Saint Lukes Home of Healing. It was then bought by Erica and Paul Kalil in November 2004 and it was then that Kearsney Manor was born.
